After having such a great experience at Ralph's on the Park for kiddo's birthday back in July, it didn't take much persuasion to have lunch with a friend at Cafe B, on Metairie Road. I remembered that the restaurant's location, right near the intersection of Labarre Road and Metairie Road, was short on parking, so I parked over across the street. Fortunately for the rest of y'all (and me on my next trip there), they valet-park.
Cocktails! That's a "Labarre Lemonade" (Caravella Limoncello, Stoli Ohranj, orange juice, lemon syrup with sour, Sprite) and a "Raspberry Lime Cooler" (Absolut Vodka, Sugar Free Torani Raspberry Syrup, fresh lime juice, club soda). The Raspberry cocktail is one of Cafe B's "skinny drinks."
Oh, and that's my friend Anne, trying to duck out of the photo. :-)
Creole Crab Dip, which was creamy and spicy without being overwhelming.
Green, Egg, and Ham - asparagus, a poached egg, Prosciutto di Parma, and "bacon hollandaise." I didn't catch the bacon in the sauce, but the combination of these flavors and textures was fantastic.
This was a special: pulled pork on ciabatta sandwich. Nice, but the aioli was a bit thin.
Homestyle Chicken Pot Pie. A Winner!
Pecan Praline Bread Pudding that was fantastic.
We sat at a row of bench-seat two-tops directly across from the bar. Our server was the bartender. I don't want to say we got special service because we were raving about the cocktails, but he took great care of us.
Cafe B is worth the trip to Metairie.
